IAW Student discussion board
On 05/05/2019, IAW Student organized a meeting in the youth center in Zellerau to discuss the intercultural issues of foreign students in Würzburg and their management. The day started with a welcome by the head of IAW Student and moderator of the event. After the welcome, during which the guests introduced themselves briefly, the moderator started with the presentation of IAW Student and the lecture about studies.
This was followed by two lectures held by other members of IAW Student. The first was about the town hall and housing opportunities, the second was about jobs and finances. Two students who had already graduated took on the topic of experience by sharing with the guests their experiences so far that they had made during their studies. In a good mood, it continued with a session of Q&A. And finally, there was a small meal.
The moderator then presented IAW Student as an initiative of IAW e.V., which deals with the difficulties of foreign students. It is an initiative of students for students. IAW Student supports students in many areas of social life, be it in job hunting, choosing a course of study, or administrative matters, such as extending a visa. The moderator of the event informed the guest that the academic success of foreign students in Germany generally depends not only on study-specific factors but also on successful social integration. Only those who can contribute their skills and experience feel valued and recognized.
She then explained the correct course of action when choosing the right course of study using concrete examples. It was a successful day for IAW student. The head of the IAW Student took the opportunity to once again present the goals of IAW Student for this year 2019 and from the other members of the IAW Student we not only got tips on how to proceed as a student when renewing his visa, but also how easily a student can come to an accommodation in a city like Würzburg
